new, desperate and in need of freedom...

    hi everyone,
    I've been visiting the website on and off to look for ways to stop my addiction (porn+fapping) and I've like the fact that its active .. so Im here !
    here is a little background of me :
    Im a college student , Im a muslim and thats mainly why Im here ,I want to stop forever and free myself of the shame and guilt I carry , Im tired of being tired all the time and living like a zombie and sleeping all day.(I have put almost 10 kg ever since)
    so my problem started 2 years ago at the start of my second semester in college .I was googling something ...well it was out of curiosity but I regret it now.

    ever since ,it became a part of my life .. Im a person who thinks a lot anyway and that only made things worst ..I used to do it daily but i managed to do it every other day .. I've had some successful trials (went 16 days without it and relapsed and recently after a family member getting psychosis i stopped again for 10 days, and then some other 6 or 5 days here and there) but i still cant stop for good.

    Ill appreciate it if you guys can give me your best tips .
    I WANNA LIVE AGAIN NORMALLY :(

    We're all here to help each other to fight the same fight. Here you'll find lots of great tips how to abstain porn and masturbation. And as we all are fighting the same fight, you can always ask help or advice just about everything.

    thank you so much for the reply .. I am so hopeless I need to get my life back, I would love it if you can give me general advice on how i can get started.
     
  4. First and hardest step is always to admit you have a problem, and you've just done that. Points for that :)
    Second, as porn is probably our biggest problem, I suggest you stay away from it awhile. Try to complete 30 day Reboot (Hard Mode) which means abstaining Porn-Masturbation-Orgasm (or PMO for short) for 30 days.
    This is not an easy task, but it's definitely most effective and fastest way to start your new porn-free life.

    yay!
    that sounds hard but I guess I am up for the challenge! I find it easy to not watch porn (my Pb is 70 something days) but stories and pictures are my weakness and the start of my relapses.

  6. I know the feeling. Trust me, I really do :D
    Pictures and stories are same as videos to our brains. Porn is porn. Plain and simple. Doesn't matter how you put it. And as you admitted it, it's prelude to relapse, so my suggestion is just to stay away from it.
    Also, try to find your triggers which makes you read stories or browse pictures in the first place. It's usually boredom or some sort of negative feeling, and when you recognize yours, you'll be able to avoid those triggers and relapses.

    exactly :\
    it is out of boredom , im a night person .. so ill be alone at night doing nothing but watching YT or series or reading a book it looks like i should start from there and sleep earlier!

  8. Great idea!
    I set up my phone to notify me to go to bed around 10pm every night. And now after a month, I have to say it's making my life little bit easier and now I get my 8 hours of sleep almost every night.
    And when boredom strikes (as it always strikes), I like to go for a walk or run. Or do push ups. Or something. Pretty much anything physical which distracts my thoughts from urges.

    And this is completely new habit. I didn't used to do anything physical before, but it helps me to fight urges.

    guess this is going to be my new challenge specially that im starting uni again next sunday anyway !
    i also need to lose weight as i stated earlier .. this addiction really ruined my lifestyle , i used to be somewhat a fit person :'(

  11. Oh, by the way... There's also dedicated Muslim group called "Muslim Fapstronauts" and I think you should also check out "Women in Reboot" section...

    i joined the muslims group :)
    but i need to check the women section, its a lot easier to talk to other women i guess.

    Welcome. A personal best of 70 days is pretty good. I've gone as far as two weeks. Hopefully we can all be free of this addiction someday.

    So far I'm trying to understand my triggers ..I know boredom and staying awake alone at night are one of them ..so for that I'm going to work on sleeping better and fill my time with something productive ( I like learning new languages,reading books,writing..etc) so maybe I'll do these things more
