DAY 96 of my life-bettering journey: Wednesday, July 03, 2019

Morning Cold Showers (58 days so far): My first missed Cold Shower so far. I caught a cold yesterday night. Today, I woke up sick; I was shaking, so I couldn't take my shower in such conditions.

Quitting Porn (01 days so far): Still struggling with the evil addiction. One thing is certain, I won't give up.

Quitting Refined Sugar (03 days so far): Today I felt good about myself. I had some cravings; especially for sweetened tea but I managed to stay away from sugar.

Hi! Have you crossed off everything that contains white suger? I had a similar problem, where I would eat a lot of sugar in sweets and chocolate. It really helped me to first stop with the things that contain most sugar. For me that was chocolate and and stuff I bought just for myself - so I was allowed to eat cake when I was invited by someone, but not on my own. By this I had less social pressure.

    Just a thought ;)

    Hi again!

Yes, I eliminated everything that contains sugar (unless I'm not aware about it because they sometimes give it some industrial names). I'm also trying to eradicate white flour products like white bread, pasta, etc. and only consume whole grains.

However, I'm not religiously strict about it. I think of having a treat every once in a while (once a week or so). If I'm invited to eat something sugary, I certainly won't say no. I tried to be so strict about Daily Intermittent Fasting but failed because social pressure was so strong ; I won't do the same mistake with this challenge.

    Stay strong buddy!

DAY 97 of my life-bettering journey: Thursday, July 04, 2019

Morning Cold Showers (59 days so far): My second missed day ; I'm still sick. I think I'll also miss tomorrow. I feel no regret about it.

Quitting Porn (02 days so far): Second day. I can't deny the fact that I feel sexually frustrated. With all the struggles to fight porn and masturbation addictions, all the temptations out there, etc. I just feel miserable sometimes.

Quitting Refined Sugar (04 days so far): Still on track despite all the temptations. Today I included white-flour products in my black list ; I'll be replacing them by whole-grain alternatives.

DAY 98 of my life-bettering journey: Friday, July 05, 2019

Morning Cold Showers (60 days so far): As expected, I purposefully missed today. I'm still recovering from my cold and I don't want to get ill again. I don't know if I'll be able to resume my cold showers streak tomorrow. We'll see!

Quitting Porn (03 days so far): The third day without porn. I honestly don't feel good about myself when it comes to this challenge. What I currently try to do is to avoid thinking about it.

Quitting Refined Sugar (05 days so far): Just completed my fifth day. Now I noticed an important thing related to this challenge. I tend to eat more when sugar is not an option. I don't know if it's a good or bad thing, but I'm totally aware of it.

DAY 99 of my life-bettering journey: Saturday, July 06, 2019

Morning Cold Showers (61 days so far): Another missed day. I think I'll resume my streak on Monday.

Quitting Porn (00 days so far): I'm in a vicious cycle ; I can't keep streaks more than 4-5 days. Therefore, I'll temporarily stop journaling about quitting PMO. I'll take some time to reorganize my ideas to take a fresh start. I'm not sure about how much time I need but one thing is certain: I'll be back stronger, with new strategies and fresh willpower.

Quitting Refined Sugar (06 days so far): I'm still on track. I decided to take the week-end off. From now on, I'll be eating 0 sugar and 0 white flour products from Monday through Friday. On the weekend, I'll allow myself to eat freely. But, why am I doing this? Won't this hinder my progress? Actually, many experiences taught me to avoid being severe about change. I tried to be religiously strict with daily intermittent fasting and the result was failure. So I'll take it easy this time.

DAY 100 of my life-bettering journey: Sunday, July 07, 2019

Morning Cold Showers (62 days so far): I feel better today and I believe I have fully recovered from my illness. As stated previously, I'll resume my streak tomorrow.

Quitting Refined Sugar (07 days so far): I ate sweet stuff today but I won't count it as a relapse. Why? Because it's Sunday!

Daily Intermittent Fasting (00 days so far): After a streak of 91 days (with 20 missed days) during the previous months, I switched to 5:2 IF. However, after trying it, I figured out it's not for me. Now here I'm returning back to daily intermittent fasting with new perspectives and strategies. First, I won't be as strict as in the past; I'll stop counting the hours and worrying about how much hours I fast. Normally, 16 hours is the minimum, but if I do 15, 14 or 13 hours, it doesn't matter, it's still fasting. Second, I'll allow myself to eat all day during the weekends. That way, I won't be under social pressure as I usually meet friends and family on the weekends. Finally, I decided to reset my streak to do a fresh start; the first experience was beneficial to me and it'll certainly help me with IF in the future.

Hey man, do not give up, please!

Could it be that you are very harsh to yourself perhaps? Could it be that you expect too much from yourself? To see how you fight and fight for every streak -even if it is only a few days- is very encouraging. Keep on going! :)

Hey buddy, I hope you're doing great!

I'm not giving up, at all. I just decided to temporarily stop journaling about it (publicly). I feel like I'm just looping ; not going anywhere. I feel exhausted and need some mental rest. However, I'll be back to journaling about PMO very soon!

    Thank you for asking!

Have a great day my friend.

DAY 101 of my life-bettering journey: Monday, July 08, 2019

Morning Cold Showers (63 days so far): I resumed my streak today. I felt a little bit of resistance at first since I didn't took cold showers for 5 consecutive days. I just went under the water, promptly. It felt so refreshing after just a few seconds.

Quitting Refined Sugar (08 days so far): I'm feel extremely aware about what I eat these days. I noticed that I started consuming a lot of fruits to alleviate sugar cravings, which is a great thing!

Daily Intermittent Fasting (01 days so far): Didn't take notes.

  11. Can you explain intermittent fasting and why? Enjoy reading your journals. Fellow struggled here. Thanks.

Hi MusicMan, how are you doing buddy?

I took the decision to start intermittent fasting because I have gastric problems; that is, when I eat a heavy dinner or eat late at night, I just can't sleep because of stomachaches, etc. So I started skipping dinner and fast for 16 hours, only drinking water and unsweetened beverages like coffee and tea. After a couple of weeks, I noticed great benefits; better sleep, sleeping early, not worrying about meal preparation, feelings light and energized, eating better and healthy breakfasts, etc. But (there is always a but haha), the social pressure makes it really hard to stick to it. Sometimes people invite me to eat, other times family gathers for dinner, and I just feel...isolated.

    Moderation is key.

Have a great day. And stay strong!

DAY 102 of my life-bettering journey: Tuesday, July 09, 2019

Morning Cold Showers (64 days so far): Took my regular Morning Cold Shower!

Quitting Refined Sugar (09 days so far): I'm doing good with this challenge so far. I can't deny the fact that I sometimes have powerful cravings (especially for sweet beverages), but I'm keeping my self-discipline and awareness at a high level.

Daily Intermittent Fasting (02 days so far): I think I'll give up IF for a while. I thought it would be easy to resume my streak after my break, but I was wrong; it's even harder!

DAY 104 of my life-bettering journey: Thursday, July 11, 2019

Morning Cold Showers (66 days so far): I took my shower at noon today because of some urgent stuff I had to do during the morning. It was a long one, about 10 minutes.

Quitting Refined Sugar (11 days so far): I'm still consuming white flour in some products. I'm totally aware about this but my intake was reduced drastically. I don't want to be too hard on myself; at least I don't consume refined sugar at all.

DAY 105 of my life-bettering journey: Friday, July 12, 2019

Morning Cold Showers (67 days so far): Took my Morning Cold Shower as usual. So refreshing. Felt so good afterwards.

Quitting Refined Sugar (12 days so far): Tomorrow and Sunday are off days. I'll let myself enjoy some sweet stuff. It's crazy how it feels good when I use sugary things as a reward after a long sugar-free week. Just a sweetened cup of tea can be extremely enjoyable!

DAY 106 of my life-bettering journey: Saturday, July 13, 2019

Morning Cold Showers (68 days so far): Took my Morning Cold Shower as usual. So refreshing. Felt so good afterwards.

Quitting Refined Sugar (13 days so far): Today was a cheat day as stated earlier. I ate a few sugary things with moderation. What I like about this challenge is the amount of self-consciousness it provides. Not only I became aware about refined sugar in food, but also about my vegetables intake, chewing speed, etc. And that's just great! Tomorrow will be also a cheat day (second day of the weekend).

Morning Cold Showers (69 days so far): Another Cold Shower. It feels great!

Quitting Refined Sugar (14 days so far): Two weeks in. I honestly thought this challenge would be much harder. However, I should stay aware. The road is a long one and I expect setbacks in the future ; especially when I feel depressed.
